Case
(1) The hard cover (or boards) of a hardback book, often covered with cloth (with stamped spine text) and protected by a jacket. As an alternative to cloth, the book may have a printed paper case.
(2) The form of lettering, i.e. upper and lower case (and the slightly tongue-in-cheek camel case – e.g. as in ‘InDesign’).
This definition is extracted (and expanded on) from the book Getting Published: A Companion for the Humanities and Social Sciences by Gerald Jackson and Marie.
