Out of Print (OP)

Standard industry availability notation. With the growth of print on demand, far fewer titles are now going out of print. Indeed, we are currently witnessing the revival of large numbers of previously OP titles as publishers jump on the e-publishing bandwagon and rush to digitize their backlists.

This definition is extracted (and expanded on) from the book Getting Published: A Companion for the Humanities and Social Sciences by Gerald Jackson and Marie Lenstrup.
