Edition

(1) Different bindings in which a title is available, e.g. ‘hardback edition’.

(2) Different versions of the same title, e.g. ‘second revised edition’. There is a fine line between a reprint (new impression) with minor corrections and a new edition in which significant changes have been made to the contents of the previous edition.

This definition is extracted (and expanded on) from the book Getting Published: A Companion for the Humanities and Social Sciences by Gerald Jackson and Marie Lenstrup.
